Navigating the special education process can be both a daunting and time-consuming task for parents and students alike. At the Center for Specialized Learning Services, we strive to equip parents of students with learning differences with the tools and knowledge necessary to advocate independently for their child at Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings. The cornerstone of this philosophy is the belief that, although the parents know the child best, effective collaboration with the school team results in a partnership focused on addressing the needs of the student. A special education advocate can be useful in fostering these relationships by working alongside parents in negotiating with school administration to ensure that the appropriate educational program is implemented for your child.
Some other areas in which a CSLS advocate or consultant may be able helpful include:
- Educational Consulting
- Transition Services
- Parent Education
- Student and Family Counseling
- Case Management
